The Orpheum theatre its original name was the Loew's Orpheum Theatre. It was Boston’s first opera house it opened in 1852 with the capacity for 2890 people. Its main address was 413 Washington Street in Boston’s shopping mall district. This was later closed and the back ally entrance on 1 Hamilton Place became the main one. Many symphonies were performed there. It was a film made by Paul McCartney, which by passed U.S theaters because of the lack of popularity. After a renovation, the house re-opened as a performing venue under the name The Aquarius Theatre in either 1969 or 1970.
